Møller Model 71 chairs

The finished chairs, featuring all-new Danish corded seats and repaired legs.

The Challenge

These chairs were the client's grandparents', passed along from generation to generation for the past 70+ years. Each chair required repair work on the legs at the joints - a common break we see on this model of chair.

The Process

We carefully repaired the damaged leg joints to restore structural integrity. After repairs were complete, we stripped off the old seat cording and replaced any deteriorated nails.

The Result

We re-corded the seats with authentic paper cording imported from Denmark, staying true to the original Danish design. With proper care, these beautifully restored family heirlooms should now last another 40-50 years!

During the re-cording process, weaving the vertical and horizontal strands of cording which create a seat. Each chair takes about 6 hours to fully strip down and re-cord.
