Meet the Duo
We're Matt & Natassja, self-taught restoration artists who've been bringing vintage furniture back to life full-time since 2020. Our journey has cultivated a deep reverence for patience and precision, though we've gratefully absorbed wisdom from experienced craftspeople along the way. Working as a collaborative team, we combine complementary skills to honor each piece's history while ensuring its future.
Our Story
This business began in our 490 sq. ft. apartment, where Matt refinished furniture on the sidewalk while Natassja reupholstered in our tiny dining room and staged pieces in our living room. Our workshop has evolved through many iterations—a generous friend's garage, a shipping container, back on the sidewalk, our parents' driveway—before finding its current home in a small workshop in Seattle's Phinney neighborhood. Each space has shaped our adaptive approach to restoration.
Our Vision
We've spent years developing Rescue Vintage into a space that provides honest, professional, and conscientious restoration services. Our goal is to be the first name that comes to mind when you want to preserve a family heirloom, repair a beloved-but-broken piece, or discover something that perfectly completes your space—perhaps something you didn't even know you needed until you saw it.
Our Commitments
Environmental Responsibility
We reduce waste by extending furniture lifespans, saving fabric scraps, reusing materials, mending where possible, and repurposing vintage wood and hardware that would otherwise end up in landfills.
Quality Over Quantity
We work at an intentional pace, staying small to maintain meticulous attention to each piece. Our priority is values over profit, ensuring everything is restored to excellent condition before reaching your home.
Thoughtful Creativity
While specializing in mid-century furniture, we aren't bound by tradition. We embrace the Japanese concept of wabi sabi—finding beauty in imperfection—while taking creative approaches to restoration.
Inclusive Community
We actively foster a safe, welcoming environment for everyone—in our business practices, client relationships, and personal values. We're committed to making sure all people feel respected and valued.

Kind Words from Past Clients
I can't freak out more about how amazing the transformation of my chairs is. They were quick to respond, upfront about pricing, completely collaborative, and loved my chairs as much as I do. Their craftsmanship is top quality as is their professionalism and communication. Rescue Vintage took my emeralds in the rough and turned them into shining jewels.
Matt and Natassja were wonderful to work with! They did excellent work on our dining chairs, keeping us in the know with the process along the way. They helped bring our rickety chairs back to life to become a staple in our dining room for years to come.
What wonderful craftsmen. I had Rescue Vintage restore our family heirloom Lane Acclaim coffee table which was wobbly and had a really damaged finish. When I picked it up after their restoration it was so stunning, I quickly brought in more pieces for them to work on.
