Sculptural Four-Seat Mid-Century Modern Sofa, c. 1960s–70s

$3,650.00

Large four-seat mid-century modern sofa with a sculptural wraparound frame, four geometric back panels, separate seat cushions, inset wood arm caps, and tapered wood legs.

The sofa has a low, elongated profile with an upholstered outer shell that wraps around the back and arms. Four individually shaped back panels create a repeating geometric pattern across the interior, while the exposed wood arm caps and legs break up the upholstered form.

The original two-tone orange and brown upholstery also shows how the design can work with contrasting textiles across the frame, seat cushions, and back panels.

Maker unknown. Based on the construction and styling, we estimate the sofa dates to the late 1960s or 1970s.

This sofa is being sold prior to restoration so the buyer can select the final upholstery. The existing fabric will be fully removed during restoration.

The listed price includes the sofa and our restoration labor.

Restoration

  • Remove existing upholstery

  • Reupholster frame, seat cushions, and back panels

  • Inspect and repair internal frame

  • Complete structural repairs and tightening as needed

  • Restore wood arm caps and legs

  • Rebuild four seat cushions and four back sections

  • Replace padding and support materials as needed

  • Final assembly and detailing

Estimated Upholstery Materials

We estimate this sofa will require approximately 20–22 yards of 54" wide upholstery fabric in a plain, non-directional textile.

Estimated material costs:

  • Fabric: approximately $2,000–$3,300

  • Foam and upholstery supplies: approximately $600–$900

  • Estimated materials total: approximately $2,600–$4,200

Foam and upholstery supply costs are estimates and will be finalized after the sofa is opened up and the existing cushion and support construction can be evaluated.

Fabric pricing assumes a high-quality upholstery textile in roughly the $100–$150/yard range. The final cost will depend on the selected textile.

Patterned or directional textiles, velvet, mohair, leather, and other specialty materials may require additional yardage or labor. Using contrasting textiles across the frame, seats, and back panels may also affect the final yardage.

Dimensions

Estimated. Final measurements to be confirmed.

Approx. 98" W × 34" D × 30" H
Approx. 16.5" seat height
