1963 Eames Lounge Chair

Fully reupholstered Eames lounge chair and ottoman

The Challenge

Originally purchased new in 1963 by our client's father, this Eames lounge chair and ottoman had become a treasured family heirloom. The goal was to preserve its original look and character while replacing the worn upholstery with leather better suited to the family's everyday life.

The Process

We carefully assessed the chair's construction and developed a restoration plan that respected its original design. The cushions and armrests were completely reupholstered in supple black leather with a softer matte finish, chosen to maintain the chair's familiar appearance while providing comfort and durability in a home with children.

The Result

The finished heirloom chair retains its iconic mid-century character while continuing its story with the next generation of the family.
