Drawing inspiration from Shaker furniture, Sonna Rosen’s “Solfjädern” chair, with its splaying spokes rounding a bentwood backrest, resembles the rays of a rising sun.
Designed in 1948, and awarded the Good Design Award by MoMA in 1952, this piece endures as an example of the marriage of aesthetic beauty and functionality that is the hallmark of Scandinavian mid century design.
Made from solid beech wood, the piece is lightweight but sturdy. No identifying marks found.
