Vintage Sunfeather chair by Sonna Rosen

Drawing inspiration from Shaker furniture, Sonna Rosen’s “Solfjädern” chair, with its splaying spokes rounding a bentwood backrest, resembles the rays of a rising sun.

Designed in 1948, and awarded the Good Design Award by MoMA in 1952, this piece endures as an example of the marriage of aesthetic beauty and functionality that is the hallmark of Scandinavian mid century design.

Made from solid beech wood, the piece is lightweight but sturdy. No identifying marks found.

17" seat height, 25.5" from floor to top of arm

Seat area measures 20"x 17"

Pre-Restoration Purchasing Process

The listed price includes the furniture piece itself and our restoration labor (refinishing of all wood surfaces and complete reupholstery). Upon purchase, we'll collaborate with you to select fabric and materials, which will be charged additionally based on your selections. Additional labor charges may apply for velvet, mohair, patterns, and leather, as well as for unexpected additional materials needed to fully restore the piece.
